Whenever you roll a success at a Crafting check to make an item of the type you chose with Specialty Crafting
No, it does not apply to earn income with crafting checks. Yes you are making items in an abstract narrative sense, but you are not rolling a crafting check to make an item, you are rolling a crafting check to earn an income.
