Adjusting 2e Quests & Scenarios for SMALL parties...

Advice

I'm looking to run a relatively short, one-shot adventure for a couple friends, but I'm not sure how to adjust encounters for smaller-than-standard parties.

Are there guidelines on how to do it, or can anybody make any suggestions?

I haven't bought the module yet, but I'm considering a few Year One options, including:
Scenario #1-01: The Absalom Initiation
Scenario #1-11: Flames of Rebellion
Scenario #1-18: Lodge of the Living God
Quest #6: Archaeology in Aspenthar

I've played Scenario #1-01 and #1-11, but haven't run anything in Pathfinder 2 yet.

One of the players is an experienced gamer, but hasn't done much (if any) PF2, the other is my wife whose RPG experience is essentially nil.

I'll be building the PCs as well, and my wife wants something simple to run, so class suggestions would be helpful as well if it makes any difference at 1st level.

There are guidelines in the core rulebook for adjusting encounters. They work for smaller parties as well as for larger parties.

You can find them in the Archives or on page 488 of the core book.

As for a simple-to run character, basically any class is able to be approached in a way that makes it simple (such as by pre-selecting the variable elements of classes like what alchemical items to make as an alchemist, or which spells to prepare as a prepared spellcaster, and then not altering those during play even though it's allowed) so it'd be better to choose a class that has a flavor or play-style your wife would be interested in than to try and pick just based on what can be the simplest.

Her only prior RPG experience was over 20 years ago.

She has no idea how the rules work.
She doesn't *have* a 'play-style' yet.
Her expressed preference was "something simple to run".

There's only going to be one other player to fill in skill/capability gaps.
