Book 2 Mist question

My group just hit the mist for the first time and panicked. They are stuck in analyze s paralysis. How did you all handle it or did your groups just bite down and move through it? Is there an errata to the checks needed to pass it? I’m just wanting to be as diligent as possible to be fair to them as players at my table.

The players never need to go into the mist. That's supposed to be hinted at by birds randomly falling out of the sky dead at their feet.

Yeah, it looks like you're reading the book incorrectly. They're trapped inside the mist. They don't have to go through the mist to get to town.
