Is this for a digital or physical map?
If physical, I might just use letters:
Sn = Snow
Ice = Ice
TI = Thin Ice
Since a lot of that is going to be pretty samey to look at, honestly.
If digital, well... you have a lot more options. But those would take more time to discuss.
Other than that, I found this with a quick Google search. It has symbols for Ice, Ice and Snow, Tundra, Snow Drifts... You could probably use something like that.

Definitely a physical map.
This is a tactical map, so each square effected by the terrain needs to be indicated, so I don't think letters will cut it.
I like the map as a visual prop, and usually go through at least moderate effort to make it look good.
I took a look on Google as well. Those keys seem best suited for large-scale maps, where you can mark "sand dune" and be done with it, rather than worrying about actually circumference, height and slope.
Currently, I've got drifts as standard elevation lines and thin ice represented with cracks in the ground.
My normal green squiggly underbrush thing won't cut it for difficult terrain in this climate, but I suppose a similar approach would be fine for patches of smooth ice.
