Rogue Thief build question

Rules Discussion

Hi! we guys have a question about the archetype thief from the rogue.

It haves:

When you attack with a finesse melee weapon, you can add your Dexterity
modifier to damage rolls instead of your Strength modifier.

Does this work for ranged attacks with finesse weapons, like a dagger? So if I throw a dagger do I get my DEX in damage?

Thanks for the answer. I find this bizarre because I thought ranged attacks counted as attacks as the "power" descripted. But we are a bit confused, since some weapons are both melee and ranged (as the dagger) and have finesse.

Can you please elaborate? thanks again

The thrown weapon trait, after CRB errata states "You can throw this weapon as a ranged attack, and it is a ranged weapon when thrown.”
