Our campaign is currently Ironfang invasion and we ran into a troop type with a volley (ex) attack. Various forms of this attack are printed depending on which troop type is launching them, but they all share some common notes.
“This attack takes the form of up to four lines with a range of 100 feet. These lines can start from the corner of any square in the troop’s space. Each creature in any of these lines takes 4d6 points of piercing damage per line that hits it (Reflex DC 20 half). The save DC is Dexterity-based.”
Does cover apply or impact this? Our guess is no because it’s an auto hit.
But what about total cover, specifically from a tower shield? It doesn’t seem to require any line of effect or line of sight, but it’s not a magic attack either so doesn’t follow burst/spread rules.
