[Spheres of Might] How do you use it with Consolidated or Grouped Skills?

Does anyone know how these work with the system in SoM where you gain skills ranks for gaining talents in certain spheres?

Or is that no longer needed when using one of these variant rules?

You've essentially got three different variant rules options that are all kind of doing the same thing. The main point of certain spheres auto-scaling associated skills was to help compensate for the skill disparity that disproportionately affects combat-oriented classes.

Long story short, they weren't written to work together and they're kind of two different ways of doing the same thing.

I probably wouldn't do both at the same time, yeah. If you're using SoM classes along with consolidated or grouped skills, you can pretty comfortably drop the bonus ranks without negatively affecting the intended baseline of the character. It might get a little less flexible if you've got e.g. a core fighter buying up SoM talents, but generally I'd just do one of these things or the other.
