Just want to say that I've come to realize the circus needs to be populated with loads more people to truly come alive. People like barkers, clowns, cooks... they're all hinted at but given zero attention.
(Reading the text you realize barkers are assumed. Send in the Clowns makes you ask: which clowns? There's a whole support apparatus hinted at that feeds the circus and its visitors; who sells the beer and the cheese steak sandwiches?)
With a story that begins with a whodunnit, that's not good enough. Even though the mystery isn't supposed to be THAT difficult to solve, I expect players to ask me for a full roster of "employees".
I will also need at least a half-dozen side show artists. Carnival acts on the side, that visitors can enjoy before and during the main show.
The adventure names ten people, tops. I will conservatively assume there are at least three times that many people working for/at the circus, not including the player characters.
I also plan on asking each player to name one (1) relation to another (N)PC. Any kind of relation. This bond reduces any skill check to influence said character by five points. Selecting a NPC might give the best short-term benefits, but who knows how long the initial NPC artists will stick around?
Since I plan on gamesmastering this adventure for adult players, I will sadly not be able to detail my plans, NPCs or their pictures here on Paizo's forums. (I've already been moderated once for even hinting at NSFW content).
So, for this topic, I will respect the rules of the land. See you (in the coming days) at another major D&D forum!
Best Regards
