Hello all,
Acid Flask lets you add 2d6 and your Ranged or Disable skill as a combat check or against a barrier. Deka An-Keret in the Mummy's Mask is a barrier that requires a Diplomacy or Knowledge check to defeat. Can Acid Flask be used for that? According to the card as written, I would think the answer is yes, but it seems strange.

On a local combat check or a local check to defeat a Lock or Trap barrier, banish to add 2d4 and the Acid trait.
Deka An-Keret has the traits Villain, Barrier, Human, Cleric & Aristocrat.
You could use Acid Flask on Deka IF either:
- (s)he had the Lock or Trap trait
- (s)he had a "combat" check to defeat
... which isn't the case.

PJ is referring to the old version of Acid Flask, which does indeed allow you to "For your... check against a barrier, ... use your Disable or Ranged + 2d6."
So yes, you can use it against Deka, or any other barrier, strange as it seems. Acid can be very persuasive...
(Note, however, that Acid Flask lets you use Disable or Ranged + 2d6, not add that amount -it would be instead of your normal Charisma or Diplomacy check, not in addition.)
(The new version of Acid Flask restricts the barrier use to Lock or Trap barriers, but does allow you to add 2d4 against them. Hence the confusion.)

OP is actually referring to the original version of Acid Flask. And established way back in RotR, by the case of "Crowbar VS Shopkeeper's Daughter" - there's nothing wrong -well, nothing impossible- with blunt-forcing your way through social situations. Yey for real-world parallels?
