What are some PC options that allow you to ignore difficult terrain?
I'm trying to make an aerial combatant who can fly up at full speed.
Easiest thing I can think of would be the Wild Stride feature on the Ranger. I can think of arguments for or against it applying though.
Against: Fly says ”You move through the air up to your fly Speed. Moving upward (straight up or diagonally) uses the rules for moving through difficult terrain." The question is whether using the rules for difficult terrain makes it count as difficult terrain to other abilities. Is it not actually difficult terrain? Also, this may not be what Wild Stride was intended for.
For: if it quacks like a duck... "Using the rules of difficult terrain" doesn't mention "for this specific purpose," which should mean all the rules of difficult terrain. As for the Wild Stride feature, what is more natural that gravity?
The Favored Terrain: Sky option also makes it seem like it must be intended, because there's only two ways you can have difficult terrain in the sky: gravity and wind. That feat would let you apply it to flight speed as early as level 2, if you had a flight speed at level 2. That changes to a 10 foot flight speed bonus at 11.
Rangers are also very well equipped for a mobile fighting style. You might consider Precision Edge over Flurry, because you'll have less actions to attack with when you need one to stay aloft. But a longbow and Hunted Shot works just fine with that still. Unfortunately Running Reload doesn't work with Fly, so crossbows are out.

Does that allow Rangers that are mounted to ignore difficult terrain if the mount can fly?
That would be extremely thematic, as I imagined most exceptional dragon/griffin/etc riders to likely be Rangers
Edit: seems like a no after digging. It’d be cool if there was some way to relay your movements to an animal companion in the future.

Yeah unfortunately I don't know of many ways to combine PC mobility options with a mount. Could have feat potential though.
