So prefacing this only with the campaign we are playing. I am a player so as few spoilers as possible please! Looking for tips for how to thin numbers through hit and run tactics as possible.
We have learned through scouting and charming henchmen what the base of Piltz Palace looks like and that he has roughly 100 henchmen.(our rogue, ranger(slayer) and enchantment sorceror have actually been inside and fled after collecting intelligence). We have decided to meet the painter "Salvatore Scream" and then launch attacks on search parties. We have through stealth and subterfuge scouted most of the home base...but now expect it to be on high alert after this event. Since we could possibly anticipate a majority of their numbers defending Piltz, we have talked about expectations, and decided that it would be wise to pick off scouting parties in Old Korvosa and either decimate numbers, or wait until scouting parties return to normal.
So the big question is actually a mechanical one. What is an effective way to wage Guerilla warfare, and make sure there are less numbers at base waiting for us when we storm the gates?
We have a fairly offense heavy party. (Rogue, War Preist, Slayer, Sorceror, and a Shoanti Skald (myself)) WE are all level 8, and have access to all level 3, and a limited number of level 4 Arcane spells with the sorceror. What are some tactics we can use to disperse the enemy, lower numbers, scare, and turn enemies to our side? (We feel that we are good characters predominantly and want to uproot this evil force in a tactical way, not literally murder 100 people who have fell in with this guy out of fear.)
As a player I've never really engaged in War level numbers of foes and I am interested to hear any stories you all have.
