True battlefield medic

Advice

How would you thematically design a true battlefield medic. I was thinking either Ruffian rogue for 2nd level assurance/battlefield medicine with medium armor and shield. Then bard or cleric ded for buffs. Or a monk with mountain stance and a tower shield. For high AC and protecting the injured while you patch them up on the field. Thoughts?

Depends on your DM's ruling on the amount of hands necessary for Battle Medicine. If they require you to use healer's tools, then a tower shield might not be as good of an idea.
