Do magic weapons deal magic damage?

My players encountered a golem last night and when the champion hit it with his +1 striking silver longsword we had a debate over whether the damage dealt was magic, or just physical.

The golem is immune to all magic (Except it's specific weakness), and resist physical 10.

I ruled that it resisted all the damage (Due to it being a magically enhanced weapon), but we can't seem to find a specific rule on this in the PRD.

A magical sword still deals slashing or piercing damage, which is physical.

so I'm pretty sure immunity to magic as an ability for golems is just immune to spells and different kinds of energy types as described in each of their separate entries, and I think the way it's stated in the immunity section as "magic (see below)" doesn't mean it's just immune to anything with the magic trait. I think it still makes it an interesting encounter if you have to figure out the weakness and rely on that, though, so I don't think it would be too busted to compromise and just not allow the extra damage die. A +1 striking silver longsword is still a silver longsword, there's no reason they would take no damage from a magic longsword but normal damage from a regular one (barring resistance, of course)

The bestiary says "A golem is immune to spells and magical abilities other than its own"

A magic weapon's damage is neither a spell, nor a magical ability - and treating it as though it were takes an already defensively-oriented monster and makes it ridiculously hard to defeat.

Definitely should have only taken 10 off the damage, not completely shut down all magical weapons so the characters have to use mundane ones and then also take 10 damage off.
