My reading of the Compatibility licence and the associated FAQ seems to imply that for-profit products released under the compatibility licence cannot mention Golarion or any places, characters or events, even in passing.

So an adventure module sold under the Compatibility licence can't suggest "this adventure could be situated in Absalom or any large city in Golarion" even if it contains no further details about characters, places or events. Nor could it reference specific gods or cults.

Is this correct? I find it somewhat disappointing, but I do understand that Paizo needs to protect its Product Identity.

That matches my understanding.

The place where I'm having a bit of trouble is, if we commission on our art for for-profit 3pp, can elves(for instance) look like Golarian elves? I think the answer is no. I think we need to use more traditional/standard fantasy elves or invent our own custom look. (same for all ancestries where Paizo's look&feel is further removed from the ancient mythological baseline.

Thanks for your answer.
I'll go back to the drawing board and scrub any mention of Golarion, Sandpoint and so on.

About elves, the Paizo PF2 elves aren't *that* distinctive, except for the big pupils thing. I would think goblins would be more problematic, since those football-shaped heads and huge toothy grins are pretty unique.

Your conclusions are correct!

Thanks for the confirmation. I'll admit I'm a little sad that I was correct. Its slightly <something> (I'm not sure what the right emotion is) to have to come up with an alternate stock description for different ancestries when all I want to do is write an adventure for PF2e, but it is completely expected given the creative aspects there.

Thanks for chiming in, Vic. It was harding finding a good place on these forums to ask questions about the Compatibility licence.
