Range level 4 .... Zero 1st level Spells

Rules Questions

So as a ranger 1-3 you have (-) 1st levels spells. However now at level 4 I have (0) 1st level spells. Whats the difference? Do ranger get cantrips?

Your help is most appreciated.

I think this post is in the wrong edition message board. In PF2 rangers don’t get spells as a base part of the class. In PAthfinder 1st edition, a ranger only gets 1st level spells at level 4 if they get a bonus spell from having a high enough wisdom modifier.

This sounds like a PF1 question and this is the PF2 rules forum.

That said, no, normal Ranger's don't get cantrips in PF1 ever.

If the Ranger has a 12+ Wis (again assuming a normal Ranger), then they get a bonus first level spell. This means nothing until they're a caster at level 4 where it adds to the zero to give one spell they can cast per day.
That "zero" also opens up spell-completion items for their use, not just the spell-trigger items they can use at 1st.
