Precious Materials Grade and Damage Resistance

Rules Discussion

I'm trying to find out if a higher level monster "needs" a higher-quality weapon to pierce any damage resistance it has?

Or will any old weapon (of the requisite material) do (for the purpose of interacting with resistance and weakness)?

For instance, if you have a regular (low-grade) silver dagger, I understand you're limited to 8th level runes.

But will this lowly level 2 dagger still trigger the silver weakness of a devil, even a Pit Fiend or somesuch?

In short: is grade a thing when it comes to overcoming monster damage resistance?

No. Either a weapon is made of a particular precious material or it isn’t. Or you’ve coated it in a sheen to temporarily change it’s material trait. Grade only determines what runes you can inscribe a weapon or armor with, as you noted.

You could make some house rules if you want.

No.

Thank you, saves me from trying to find a rule that simply isn't there.
