They've advanced the calendar around 10 years and more or less made the endings of all the APs canon. There are a bunch of details on various blog posts, and the Campaign Setting book getting released at the end of August will go through all of it in detail.
But the main summary would be that no, the setting is not changing in any fundamental way. Borders shifting, couple of new countries, but it's organic, nothing is changing the nature of the world or setting like the spell plague back in the day.

Yeah, APs have changed some stuff, with the biggest changes in a world sense being the closing of the Worldwound and the awakening of the Whispering Tyrant, plus a few new countries (including New Thassilon) and new rulers for old countries, but the timeline has only advanced basically in real time, so the actual world hasn't changed in any fundamental metaphysical way or anything.
