Class Feat Selection past 1st level

Hello; I was just curious, and i feel this is a stupid question but i cant find any rule supporting or speaking against this so i thought i would ask.

When i gain class feats, am I able to select a feat from any I have current access to? For example selecting two 1st level sorcerer feats at 2nd level instead of selecting 1 1st, then 1 2nd level class feat?

If you could also give me the source of the rule saying you can/cant would be appreciated.

You can only get one feat at a time. The feat you get at any given level can be of any level from 1st level to your current level.
