Curse of the Crimson Throne

Hi Everyone!

I've played pathfinder (or 3.5) for years and I'm finally running an adventure myself. I'm running it for a new group and we've done the first part of part 1. Well, they've arrived at the fishery, at night, and have had a quick look in the ship, but been put off by the spiders.

Now, before we get into the fishery itself (I've got a week and a half to prep) I'd like to come up with a decent way to do the combats. Now, I can draw out each bit of the map on a wipe clean mat and do it that way. But I'd rather use something digital, we're going to be using my work office out of hours, and I'll have a giant interactive whiteboard behind me. Which I plan to use for maps of the city etc.

Now I think it makes sense to do the combat on here digitally. My original though was to use Photoshop or GIMP or something to have the map as the base layer, fog of war for each room as another layer and characters/monsters as their own layer. I can then use this to move things round the map.

However, is there a program that will do this for me easily? With the maps already loaded even? I don't need the rules, character sheets, etc on there. Cause everyone will be at the table. But combat would be a LOT smoother if I can just load up the encounters in a pre-prepared state, and I'd be tempted to throw a bit of money at something (although astral looks interesting) to avoid having to do all the editing myself :P

Anyway, any suggestions, things you've used or even "just put the work in and do it yourself" replies are welcome!

Thanks all!

Fantasy Grounds has a CotCT pack including most of the assets you mention. It only runs within Fantasy Grounds, so bear that in mind.
