Weapon proficiency to legendary?

Rules Discussion

Am I missing something? The weapon specialization in say barbarian adds damage based on profiency. And of course it says if you have legend you get X extra damage, but I can't see any way the class gets that high weapon prof.

I think I'm right that you can't use a skill increase to bump weapon prof. So is it just not possible (yet) or would it require some magic item I haven't seen or a DM boon?

I haven't seen a magic item or spell option yet, but I would imagine it is just future proofing.

Currently only fighters can be legendary in weapon proficiency, but every class with weapon specialization gives values for what it would get if it somehow achieved a proficiency higher than it has.

My best guess is that the Paizo folks have envisioned at least the possibility of having class archetypes that somehow gain legendary proficiency in some weapons. For all we know, they may have already come up with examples of such archetypes in some future book(s).
