Where are traits defined?

I can't seem to find any definitions for any of the game's traits, such as Open or Concentration. Where are they?

I'm sure they're in there somewhere. It IS a big book after all.

Don't forget about the Glossary/Index. Pretty much all the traits are defined therein.

Thanks. I saw that, but it's just page numbers and basic descriptions for the most part. For example:

concentrate (trait) An action with this trait requires a degree of mental concentration and discipline.

That's not really a rule. I don't even know what to do with that.

What rule are you looking for. AFAIK it's just a tag/identifier that the associated skill takes concentration.

Which means Barbarian's cant use those abilities while raging as that is part of the rage action. Not sure what other things interact with the concentrate trait.

I was thinking of something like a rule that describes how one might interrupt a concentration action/activity in the first place, and the consequences of such an interruption.

The trait "Concentrate" in this case is just a description. The rules that interact with it spell that out. In this case the biggest example is the Barbarians Rage, which doesn't let you use actions with the Concentrate trait.

Traits “trigger” abilities that say they look for the trait, they rarely have any independent or universal rules.

Like the Elemental trait in the Bestiary. Some abilities like Summon Elemental will look for that trait, but in the absence of that it doesn’t really matter.

A Mental trait on a spell doesn’t mean anything at all about how how that spell generally functions. It does matter to specific resistances and immunities that look for the trait.

Thank you guys. I guess I had convinced myself that there must be some general rule. The trait just seemed too common for there not to be.
