Advice for a small group?

Council of Thieves

I am Gming a small group with only two players, other than me. They asked me to run them through CoT, and I was glad to see them enthusiastic about a pre-written adventure. So we go to talking and they decided to play brothers who visit and get caught up in the story.
This is where it gets tough. They are adamant about their choices of class, being an arcanist and a magus. This seems to me to be a recipe for difficulties as early as the church of erastil in the first book. I have thought about letting them begin play as 2nd level, and about using the fast experience track. But I am inexperienced with adjusting adventures this way. What should I do?

Hiya :)

1) Use Milestone XP instead of experience points. There were some leveling issues discussed about book 1 (as in not enough XP to level at the right times iirc).

2) Use a 20 point buy for characters over the recommended 15 point buy which is supposed to be standard for all Pathfinder. This will give them a little more oomph. Maxxing out their HP for the first 3 levels is recommended too, arcane types typically have low HD, this will help.

3) Definitely add an NPC healer, Oracle (with Life Mystery) is pretty powerful, or add some decent melee tankiness and go Cleric/Fighter multi-class. I'd do 1 Fighter level for every 2 in Cleric in this particular case.

Mundane trap-wise... I don't recall many. So you should be ok.
