True Dragon Familiar spell access question - PFS

Dark Archive

I have a Wyrmling Nightmare Dragon on one of my PFS characters from a boon. Can the familiar use spell completion items without UMD? Nightmare dragons cast off the Psychic list later in life, so I think this would give access to using wands for spells on that list without a check, but want to make sure before I start shelling out gold.

Scarab Sages

I don't know that they cont as casters until they are old enough to cast.

I'm just wondering if their racial ability is like that of a ranger or paladin, who can use a CLW wand from 1st level despite not being able to cast until 4th.

The wyrmling doesn't have the racial feature 'psychic magic' and unlike the ranger or paladin, there is no rule that lets them do so.

If you have a class that can cast spells, you can use spell trigger items even if you can't case spells yet, but there is nothing similar for being a race that through age or some other process will eventually get spell ability.

I'm not aware of any specific PFS ruling on this, but I would be quite surprised if it was allowed.
