[SPOILERS] Advice for a boss fight in Book 1

Iron Gods

So i'm running a party of 4 and was thinking of buffing Hetuath, mostly because my party is using 20 point buy and is fairly well optimized. I'm thinking of buffing Hetuath up to 20 point buy and instead of him using shortswords, have him use spinal swords with pilo poison, multiple doses on each sword to buff up the DC and the duration. The party consists of an unchained scaled fist monk, an empiricist investigator, a Djinn bloodline sorcerer and a skald. I'd like to maybe get more ideas and some advice on the current ideas I have. I understand that i'm buffing up an infamously dangerous boss fight but I believe it might be necessary to actually provide a challenge.

buff him.

God has spoken, he's getting buffed

Hope you like TPKs. I ran him unchanged against a party of five and he still dropped two of them.

Likewise, Hetuath knocked the fighter unconscious when my five-member party battled him. See Iron Gods among Scientists: Hetuath.

Honestly while i said "God has spoken" I am still thinking about it. I definitely want to give the spinal swords, and i should probably do a test run battle to see how it goes first. While i certainly can't mimic everything the players will do it might help to see if i actually do need to buff him. For instance the Djinn Sorcerer is gonna be totally screwed in the fight which is something i forgot to take into account when making this post, though luckily i realized soon enough.

By the way, a lot of your insights about the AP have helped me out a lot Mathmuse. Running a practice encounter and i see a pattern that i should've realized sooner that it would appear: No one but the monk can lay a finger on Hetuath, the only one who stands a chance atm is the investigator and that's if he uses inspiration. meanwhile Hetuath has a hard time hitting the monk due to the monk being buffed up to the point of sharing Hetuath's AC, but if he targets anyone else they're almost guaranteed to become mincemeat.

Results of the testing: If they can entangle Hetuath (which is likely the case considering the spell adhesive spittle), he just kinda flails around, unlikely to hit anyone except maybe the sorcerer. While no one can get hits off of Hetuath except the monk, the monk deals consistent damage, eventually whittling him down. At best it appears he can maybe k.o one, maybe two while entangled. though if the entanglement duration is short enough he can make a very scary comeback

The easiest way to buff any boss is to give them the Mythic Agile template.

I wouldn't do that because of the boss in book 2, who has dual initiative. It was a big "Oh $#@&" moment for both groups I GMd that battle for.
