Longarm drone mechanic advice.

Advice

Im playing an android mechanic with a stealth drone so that I can use the drone mostly for utility and poor my feats into amplifying the damage and viability of my longarm. I dont have any intention of switching out the stealth drone for the exocortex, what kind of feats and mechanic abilities will help me most with damage output?

Hitting the target will always be #1. In the dpr calculations hitting is always the most important part, no hit no damage.

I'm an ecocortex mechanic but the same principles apply. I am surprised at how few feats seem to relate to damage output. Aside from the obvious weapon specialization/weapon focus, there's not a ton. I'm devoting a lot of my feats to survivability

Starfinder has strived to not have the "must pick" feats such as dodge in pathfinder.

I was going the opposite in the beginning, a combat drone for damage while I supported. The other way works a lot better.

Since you can't ride your drone, you can't do full attacks as freely. Take Overcharge to boost your damage on a single shot at level 2. Weapon Proficiency, Focus, and Specialization are needed feats for longarms. They're worth it as it pretty much doubles your damage over small arms.

Drone Meld is a must at level 8, +10 stealth and the ability to recall/hide your drone. I can't stress the love for this ability enough.

Consider letting your drone use heavy weapons. I gave mine a Starheart Cannon for explode damage and it does nice AoE while I pick off single targets.

Maybe I missed your meaning. You can't ride your drone?

Androids are medium so he can't ride a small stealth drone.

And if you’re riding your drone it can move you both while you full attack.
