The exploit for Operatives Jack of All Trades. A player in my group recently picked this up with his character an it had left me in a position over reading as intended or reading as writing.
From how to the player intends it, it allows a player to make trained checks in untrained skills you have no ranks in. Now I initially thought this was make checks untrained as trained. But as I read it again I think in the regards of making DC 10 with a skill you couldn't make untrained like computers, life science, mysticism, engineering an the such.
Because I look at the exploit Alien Archive an that allows a operative to identify a creature an receive information and bonuses. Then why would you pick up that if Jack of all trades can essentially do a similar thing but with all skills untrained in.
I feel it is a min maxing way around avoiding to expend skill ranks or pick up necessary feats for proficiencies. Feels inherently broken as an ability.
I have been reading around an I haven't really come across anything other than players using it to provide a +2/+4, etc bonus to be able to do things only a trained player could do when the system provides feats, themes to accommodate a class skill deficiencies.
Curious to hear other people's thoughts on this.
