I'm running ROTRL path with 6 party members right now sometimes a 7th and we are coming to the half way point of the first book. I'm sure for those who have played it before will know which adventure without many details added. I've decided I want to change two of the BBG from monk/rogue to a gestalt zen archer/empyreal sorcerer sorcerer build and the last BBG of the book to a normal gestalt anit-paladin/oracle of battle with possible one mythic rank. It took us a couple of weeks for the entire group to get their job schedules figured out so we did a bit of a pro-log and everyone now is level 4. My party consist of an optimized barbarian, optimized druid, optimized war priest ,a monk, the occasional bard and a wizard/rogue trying to do arcane trickster but having a hard time. The last party member is a sword and board slayer.
Here are a couple of ideas with why I made the character the way I did. If any one has an recommendations on how to make either character better I'm open minded to hear.
For the Zen archer I was going to make the character level 6 and have him play as a standard archer but enhance his monk abilities with spells such as owls wisdom and mage armor. I planned on if surrounded use spells like grease, color spray, and glitterdust to give him more survivability. To start off combat since the rooms are small I was going to make his third level spell fireball.
For the next BBG It was going to look something like this
Aasmir (Angel blooded)
Str 16 +3
Dex 12+1
Con 14 +2
Int 10+2
Wis 10+2
Cha 16+3
For the Cruelty Selected I Chose ( fatigue)
I chose This Cruelty based on this BBG having two yeth hounds with the special ability bay. If the targets are fatigued then if the bay from the yeth hounds are successful wouldn’t the party members become exhausted instead of just fatigued? The goal was cast sound burst hoping to get players to drop held items then to engage the party in a small room channel negative energy hoping that a couple of party members become fatigued then the yeth hounds bay ability would cause some party members to become exhausted.
Feat Selection:
Improved channel
Power attack
Weapon focus
Lamashtu's Mark
Combat casting
Still having trouble picking out an oracles curse but for revelations I have iron skin and battle clarity.
For spells
Sound burst Divine Favor
Protections from good
Sanctuary (Considering bulls strength, hold person and aboleths lung)
I was doing some reading on the Path of War classes and the harbinger class caught my eye because of the history of the BBG at the end of the book. I was also looking into combining the Witch and Harbinger classes to make a truly terrifying end book boss.
the Harbinger class can be found here
