Erroneous Pending Charges

Hi,

I was just paying my credit card bill, and noticed that it has listed 2 pending charges from Paizo. One is from Aug. 7, and the other is Aug. 9. Both are for exactly the same amount as I paid for my playtest pre-order materials, which I picked up at GenCon on the 3rd. I already have a payment shown for the 3rd, so I'm pretty certain something odd is happening in your system.

Could someone from billing look into this for me?

Oops, put a wrong date in there. The second charge is from the 15th.

Also, I notice that my pre-order is still listed as 'pending'. Maybe it didn't process correctly at GenCon?

Hello Shadrayl,

It looks like your order for the playtest materials was not flagged as picked up at GenCon so it was going to ship out to you. What you are seeing are not charges, they are authorizations. When we prepare to ship an order the bank gets pinged to make sure the card is valid. When this happens most banks put a temporary hold on the funds, which can look like a pending transaction on your end. If not finalized authorizations expire after a few business days and the holds are released.

The order hasn't been able to ship for a variety of reasons, including all of our systems being down since about the day you posted this. So those authorizations were never finalized into charges. They both have likely expired and been released by now.
