Hello,
I've been creating a new character for a Pathfinder campaign. The character I've been making is a druid, however, I don't understand the natural armour bonus. The core rulebook states 'The number noted here is an improvement to the animals existing natural armour bonus.' Could someone explain to me what this means.
Thank you

You're looking at the animal companion rules, yes? If you look through the animal companion options farther down the page, you'll see that most/all of them have natural armor mentioned in their AC, e.g. "AC +1 natural armor". That preexisting bonus gets boosted as you go up in level. If you're 3rd level, the table says to adjust natural armor by +2, so that ape would have a total of +3 natural armor bonus.
If an animal companion option's entry doesn't mention natural armor, btw (I'm not sure if that ever happens), it's a +0 by default, just like a person's.
