Invisibility

Rules Questions

Question about the Invisibility spell. The target says:
"you or a creature or object weighing no more than 100 lbs./level"

Specifically the part about the weight, is that a limit on objects only, or does it also apply to the caster and/or creature targets? Like if I were to cast it on a blue whale or some other suitably massive creature beyond my level's weight limit, would it work because it is a creature? The wording is a little weird.

I also have no idea. Anyone wanna shed some light?

I'm not sure if there is a RAW answer; I can give you a RAI interpretation, however. Creatures generally are only governed by size, not specific weight/height/etc. So, the most probable intent is that it is a single creature (regardless of size) or an object (with the weight restriction).

Of course any given GM could easily interpret this the other way.

It reads to me like the limit is on objects. It makes no sense to put that limitation on a creature.

In addition:

Otherwise creatures such as dragons couldn't use it, and there are a few creatures that have it.

Having the limitation on objects stops people from doing things like making buildings invisible.

Well, either way a Dragon (or other very sizable creature) could still use it on themselves, since one fo the tagrt options is "you" which definitely is not included in the weight limit.

With Paizo not having commas the issue of weight is why the question came up. The OP asked if it also applied to the caster, which is why I used dragons as proof that the weight only applies to dragons.

Oh, I missed that the OP asked abotu the caster as well. YEah, definitely any reading should, almost certainly, exclude the caster as having to be under the weight limit... otherwise too many creatures with invi as a SLA are broken.
