vehicle chases - ram vs collision

Rules Questions

Wanted to make sure I'm reading this right. In regular vehicle combat, you can Ram and do twice your collision damage to a vehicle, but in a chase your only option is to come up next to and engage the target, then use the collision maneuver to do your listed collision damage? There's no option to ram from behind during the chase?

I haven't read those rules recently, but it does make sense. Ramming at full speed is going to do a lot more damage than a sideswipe or tapping bumpers. Back in Car Wars, if you ram from behind, you subtract the enemy's speed from your speed to determine damage, but if you ram head-on, you add your speed to their speed.

Remember too that being in the same zone means you're somewhere within 50 ft. So, "being engaged" with someone could be narratively described in a number of ways, being next to, behind, or in front of. They just count as "right there" and not "behind" in the sense of "in a whole other zone 200 ft back behind".
