My subscription order has been divided into two shipments, one of which is a single map. I would just presume that it's cheaper to ship two packages under 2 pounds than one over 3, but I see other people have reported similar issues that have been mistakes. Could you check it, please?

In your case the shipping is correct. To ship standard post the package needs to be more than 50% bound printed material, which the maps do not count as, or be under 1 pound. So one map has to be separated out. This remains cheaper than shipping them all in a single package via priority mail by about $2.85.
