101 non-treasure items to find in a mite lair

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

So mites are some of my fave monsters to use in my fey-heavy homebrew setting. They're not overly intellectual but very cunning, have some fun low-level abilities to vex PCs with and lots of love for bugs.

One of the things they're known for, in the fluff anyway, is their hideousness. It's suggested that when they use their Doom SLA that their eyes bulge out of their heads and other races pick on them for their size and lack of conventional beauty.

In my games this has translated to mites having a love for the grotesque, macabre, and otherwise "ugly" treasures of the world. I'm starting this thread for a list of items PCs may find in the lairs of such creatures:

1. Creepy dolls with missing eyes or hair

2. Ripped and soiled finery

3. Deformed body parts suspended in jars of formaldehyde

Please feel free to add your own comments or suggestions.

Really, nothin'? I'm just trying to set a scene here:

Descending down the root-lined shaft below the ancient oak tree, the earthen walls are lined with shallow niches revealing a macabre collection. Gobbets of wax in the rough shape and visage of mortals' faces, all melted and deformed stare back at you as if begging for freedom from their terrible fate.

So I guess I'm the only weirdo that's ever thought: what else do mites collect, besides loot for PCs to take?

4. Arthropod vermin of all kinds. Cages wouldn't be ideal, but jars and pottery could serve as suitable habitable homes.

5. A large collection of potion bottles... filled with baby pill bugs.

6. A collection of decorative greaves, bracers, helmets and buckler shields, all constructed from segments of insect shells and chitin
