Hi! I'm starting the RotRL campaign Saturday and I'm looking for ideas on chaotic, idiotic, and gross actions that goblins could be doing during the attack on Sandpoint. I want to construct a table where I can roll random goblin shenanigans as my players and running around trying to fend off the little monsters. I'm putting in the suggestions from the AP but could use as many ideas as I can get from this creative community.

A goblin holds a live chicken in one hand and a torch in the other. It looks like it's attempting to cook the chicken with the torch but the chicken is squirming around too much. The gobbo fixes this by tossing the chicken and then the torch into it's own mouth.

A goblin grabs a necklace from a merchant stall, tries to put it on but gets frustrated as it won't fit over their oversized head.

A goblin pours an entire bowl of lobster chowder into their mouth, spluttering and spitting as they realize it's steaming hot.

A goblin starts picking up colored balls from one of the carnival games, and tries to attack the PCs by throwing them.

A goblin takes a round just to gleefully stab over and over at the already-dead dog.

This is awesome! Thanks!

These are perfect! Thank you!

I borrowed this idea for my game on Sunday and the players loved it. I said there was a "blue ribbon chicken contest" with all these different types of beautiful chickens in cages on a table, and one of the goblins picked up a chicken in its cage and started roasting it with the torch. He ended up spending three rounds torching the poor show-bird, and another goblin was allured by the smell and picked up another chicken and started doing the same thing. Then when they were finally attacked by a PC, the first goblin (annoyed that his meal was being disrupted) tried "two-weapon fighting" with the torch and the red-hot cage. When he failed dramatically (nat 1 and nat 3) the second goblin decided to "show him how it was done" and also tried attacking with cage and torch. Altogether I thought it was a great mix of hilarity and cruelty.

I try to run goblins to be simultaneously hilarious and terrifying.

Here are some scenes I've either used or would like to use during the events of Goblin Day...

Five goblins attack a shish kebab vendor: Three have the vendor grappled and pinned while the last two try to fry the vendor's arm in the grill... all while also trying to eat skewers of hot shish kebab. When the PCs intervene, the vendor runs away, and the goblins fight two-handed with their dogslicers and a hot skewer of shish kebab (improvised touch weapon, does 1 hp fire damage). 50% chance each round that the a goblin uses a standard action to take a bite of shish kebab instead of fighting. One might use tongs to throw hot coals at the PCs (improvised thrown ranged touch weapon: 1d3 fire damage on a hit.)

Before the attack, while setting the scene, I mentioned that child was playing with a large, handsome tabby cat on the porch of one of the houses near the fairground. During the attack, a group of goblins grapple the child while another pours lamp oil on the cat and then lights it on fire in front of the kid. The goblins laugh as the flaming cat runs under the porch of another house, setting that house on fire. Then they start pouring oil on the child...

A goblin stands on the cart of a fruit vendor, throwing ripe peaches at the PCs. The slippery fruit creates difficult terrain... for everyone. On a critical hit, a PC is hit in the face, and is dazzled for 1 round.

Goblins climb to the thatched roof of a cottage with torches, setting it on fire... while they're still on it. After the fire surrounds them, they panic and jump off the roof at the PCs. (Ranged touch attack; on a successful hit, both the PC and the goblin take 1d6 hp; goblins are automatically prone, PC must make Ref save DC 5+damage taken or also be knocked prone).

One of the goblins the PCs are fighting has a dead puppy hanging out of its mouth. It chews on the puppy while fighting.

A group of goblins stand around a dead horse, stabbing it repeatedly with horsechoppers, cheering, while one cuts off its tail. Most of the goblins scatter when the PCs challenge them, but one that stands his ground grabs the riding crop and attacks with it, while shouting, "Bad horsey! Bad horsey!" (Use stats for a Medium whip, but no reach.)

A group of goblins run by carrying a wailing human baby. Two townsfolk give chase.

A bit late, but here's my list that i made some time ago:

Hint: A dog starts barking at the hiding goblins before the encounter begins (Perception check to notice).

1. Goblin with barrel over it running around blindly.

2. Goblin clumsily swinging around an oversized improvised torch, a flaming broom that's falling apart, leaving burning pieces of straw everywhere.

3. Goblin chasing cat, 2 rounds later is seen running off with it, then 2 more rounds later sets if aflame.

4. Goblin fleeing/hiding from a dog.

5. Goblin leaps off a roof in an attempt to land on a victim but misses and breaks his neck.

6. Goblin running from bakery with a (stolen) apple pie, or pillaging the banquet table.

7. Goblin throws a lit torch at a fleeing mother only to have it land on another goblin and light his armor on fire.

8. Hysterical goblin running around while on fire looking for water, before falling dead in the middle of the square.

9. Goblin running off with a crying baby, the mother is across the square screaming "My baby, please, someone save my baby!"

10. Goblin swings across square screaming like a high-pitched Tarzan. Probably runs into something/someone and/or lands horribly.
