Grapple, pinned, tied clarification

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I'm seeking extra clarification on these rules. I have a fairly good understanding of the conditions and how they work, what I need clarified is breaking free. I'm DMing a home game with friends. One is using an Eidolon for grappling and it's over powered to high hell the way he interprets the rule.

So my question is basically... When successfully breaking free from the pinned state, do you still remain grappled? Or say from Tied, to pinned, to grappled, and then finally freedom?

This seems a bit much give that it takes a full round action to break free, and at level 1, this Eidolon is rolling 25 to 30 to grapple almost every time. There's no way to ever truly break free with those results

I forget where it is, but there used to be a grapple flow chart running around.

Long story short, they only need to break the grapple once. So the difficulty is on the one performing the grapple to make multiple checks. The creature being held down only needs to succeed once to break free. This is for all stages of being grappled.

FAQ. Breaking a pin breaks the grapple.

Awesome. Thank you for the link to the FAQ. Good to know there is only one break. I will search for the flow chart now that you've mentioned it as well.

Bonus points, Put him in the same spot you're in. When you pass the CMB/CMD check you can reverse the grapple instead of just breaking free.
