Can kinetic whip be used with the prehensile whip trait?

By RAW, no.
The kinetic whip infusion does not state that the created weapon is considered a whip. It states it's a long tendril that works as kinetic blade, but with reach, but with the ability to attack nearby targets.
So it looks like a whip, but it's not. It doesn't even have 15' reach like a whip does. It has 10' instead, like a normal reach weapon.
On the other hand, since it looks like a whip and is an alike weapon, you could houserule it to work.
The question does remain, though, if that would be of any use. The kinetic whip lasts for only one round, and by level 7 (the earliest level to get kinetic whip, assuming the kineticist chooses his primary element twice), most elements have better forms of transportation than swinging on a 10' rope for one move action.
ok... level 6 is the absolute earliest, if retraining is allowed...
