Is it alright that I play a race boon that my friend gave me? He never used it when he played, and he's giving it to me for free.

yes , he would just mark it as traded and would put your pfs number on it

yes- he would mark it traded to you and then it would be your boon

I believe he was asking if he could use the book PDF file (but maybe I'm wrong and it is indeed an online Aasimar boon PDF) as his rules source for playing an Aasimar, in which case the answer is no. Everyone must personally own the source of any rules they're using, the exception being members of the same household. If he had the physical book, he could give it to you, but as all Paizo book PDFs are watermarked with the owners name and email, only the owner (or members of their household) can use it.
