Once you take away the need for the Christmas tree of rings of protection, belts of physical boost, headbands of mental vitamins, weapon of enhancement bonus, amulet of skin toughening, capes of resistance, etc. with Automatic Bonus Progression, what fun magic items would you seek out?
In short, what items come to the fore that wouldn't ordinarily due to the need to save money and item slots for the usual suspects.
Here's some of the ones I came up with:
Gloves of Reconnaissance: see and hear through solid walls 1 min/day, 2,000 gp
Headband of Ponderous Recollection: 3/day get free action info over 3 rounds of weaknesses of creature. 1,100 gp (subtract 4,000 gp for invalid INT boost)
Belt of Tumbling: +4 tumble through threatened squares or spaces 800 gp
Gloves of Elvenkind: +5 spellcraft and cast defensively, 7,500 gp
Stalker’s Mask: +5 stealth, +10 Disguise, +1 attack/damage vs. imitated creature due to your rage and jealousy. 3,500 gp
Shawl of Life-Keeping: Store up to 10 HP, it heals you when unconscious, 24 hour duration of storage. 1,000 gp
Quick Runner’s Shirt: 1/day extra move action, 1,000 gp
Cape of Bravado: Used over one arm, the cape bestows a +1 insight bonus to AC and a +5 competence bonus on Bluff checks to feint in combat. Readying the cape in combat is a move action; if the wielder has a base attack bonus of +1 or higher, the wielder can ready the cape as a free action as part of movement. Once per day as an immediate action, a creature brandishing a cape of bravado may attempt to compel an opponent within 30 feet to attack him on its next turn (Will negates DC 11). 7,000 gp
Magnetist’s Gloves: ranged disarm 3/day 6,000 gp
