Akata Disease Save

I am planning some "bigger badder" versions of these creatures for my PCs, how is the disease's save calculated? I know that 10+(hd/2)+con is the usual but the Akata has 2 HD with a +3 Con mod and the save dc is only 12...

I searched a couple of the early Product Discussion and Errata threads for you and could only find other people pointing out the same error. I couldn't find a post in reply by a Developer about this specific question.

Perhaps the Akata has an invisible –2 racial penalty to the DC?

1/2hd+Con is "usually" the DC for a Disease, so it would appear that for whatever reason this ability doesn't follow that formula. Perhaps because a DC 14 is rough for a CR 1.

If I were building a "bigger badder" version, I would just go with the standard formula for determining the DC of a Disease, which would effectively give it a +2 DC.

Thanks, and yeah i did just go with the standard formula for the bigger version. I basically took the "lore" with the Akata and started making others like the Akata Prince they reference :)
