An early stage barathu is Medium, not Large.
You are correct some how I was thinking their juvenile size was large but they are listed as medium.

I just told my player that they can only make Small or Medium PC from the AA. They seemed to understand, even those who like to power build.
I'm surprised more GM's aren't doing this.
All of the other races seem expertly balanced, the Shobhad-neh really seems to stick out.

Honestly, with how accurate SF NPCS are, compared to PF NPCs, I wouldn't consider being large to necessarily be that powerful at all, since it will also make getting a clear shot at you that much easier.
Additional reach is great for getting one AoO, but it's not as significant in a game where combat reflexes does not exist. Good: yes, gamebreaker: no.

I wouldn't have a problem with a player making a melee Shobhab.
Most of the opponents are going to have ranged weapons - a large, menacing, multi-armed creature with multiple weapons is going to often be at the top of the shoot first list. And shoot them before the close to melee range.
As well, identifying the players, tracking them, will be quite a bit easier with a Shobhab in the party.
I am sure that there are other interesting, and fun, ways to adjust to a melee Shobhab PC.

I don't see any reason to ban Sarcesians and Urogs, just because you don't want Shobhad NPCs in your game - just ban the Shobhad-Neh. But, as others have said, they're not as good as they look - sure, they make good Solarians or Blitz Soldiers, but they're not e.g. substantially better than a Space Goblin (who will, of course, choose different class options, etc).
Anyone who wants the extra arms badly enough and has STR 14 or higher (as all Shobhad-Neh do) can buy Dual Cybernetic Arms at any level for 77,165 credits or level 12 for 70,150 credits. They do stack, so a Shobhad can get up to 6 arms to pretend he's a giant Skittermander, but lots of arms isn't as good as it first appears, particularly since you'll eat heavily into your WBL trying to support multiple weapons worth carrying.

A Vesk with 18 strength has 4 points to distribute.
A Shobbad with 18 Strength has 6 points to distribute.
18 cap in stats means all races are equal... Debunked.
A vesk with 18 str and 12 con has 4 to distribute.
A Shobbad with 18 str has 6 to distribute.
A Shobbad with the same stats as the Vesk has 4 to distribute too.
And if you are going melee Con is still important

well the shobbad cant lower his str and str is debatably a somewhat weak stat
large has been a hindrance much more then an advantage in the games i have run and played in.
not really seeing the issue here.
if you dont want to allow it , its your game but i have not had any of the large races be an issue
