Frank Mentzer, author of the D&D Red Box, has gathered an epic roster of industry veterans with centuries worth of experience to develop his world in the making for over 40 years: EMPYREA!

See the world he’s been brewing and the crazy pool of talent he’s drawn from the halls of RPG history! Names like Ed Greenwood (Forgotten Realms), Tracy Hickman (Dragonlance, Ravenloft), Tim Kask (Dragon Magazine), Len "Leomund" Lakofka (Lendore Isles), Steve Marsh (D&D Expert), Douglas Niles (City of Greyhawk), James M. Ward (Deities & Demigods, Gamma World), “Skip” Williams (Sage Advice, D&D 3e) brought to life by hallowed artists Liz Danforth, Jeff Easley, “Diesel” LaForce, Erol Otus, Stephen D. Sullivan, and more!

Pledge to get a map by Darlene, the Empyrea Core Book, Player’s Handbook, 3 “Little Brown Books”, quickstart backgrounds and adventures to get your group into their second home (a world that may seem normal enough at first glance...), and a system book with game rules for your favorite fantasy RPG (D&D 5E, Pathfinder, Runequest, Savage Worlds, Dungeon Crawl Classics, Castles & Crusades, Swords & Wizardy, Hackmaster, D&D BECMI, or 1E/2E) all contained in a sturdy, colorful old school box!

Check out the Kickstarter—intrigue and adventure await!

Over $36,000 has been raised and we're only just into the second half of Day 1!

Fun fact: Len Lakofka is the man behind that tiny hut spell so if it's ever saved your bacon, see why he's on the team and check out the Kickstarter page! ;)

RIGHT? The wizard behind the tiny hut spell! So cool. I've been geeking out for weeks.

Since yesterday the Kickstarter has gone up past $50,000 so that awesome material is well on the way! :D

Climbing up to $58k and we've added a page to the website with some concrete details on the Empyrea campaign setting itself. :D

I'll have to go check it out. I'm already in for a bit on this and looking forward to finding out more. I do have to say I'm a bit surprised at the scope of the Kickstarter campaign. I'm hopeful that it all goes well and Frank sees his dream turned reality.

Frank has gone in and added a bunch of campaign setting information directly to the Kickstarter page! :D

Went to check on this and saw it was cancelled. Not surprising considering the target of 250k $, and basically nothing about the book except namedropping, tie-in with Greyhawk and sense of nostalgia in design. And reward tiers were pretty expensive with 50$ being first one with pdf of the CS.
I had hope we'll get some setting information and maybe some more reasonable reward tiers, and I would consider backing. Then I read the brainfart of Frank Mentzer's comment about how kickstarters are destroying gaming blah, blah...anyway can't say I'm surprised this flipped and with this attitude I won't bother searching for sequel to the campaign.
