Hi im playing a fighter tower shield specialist on PFS and i want to know the posible special materials for a tower shield i know in the core rule book appears that the tower shield is a wooden shield but i found at least 2 specific magic tower shields that are made from metal the "Guard of man" and the "Fortress shield" now if these tower shields are metalics can i get a tower shield made from living steel or other metalic special material?

Specific weapons, armor, and shields have their own rules that are often exceptions to the norm. Paizo could put out a fool's blade longsword made of papier-mâché in their next supplement, but that wouldn't mean you could make longswords out of such material in general.

PFS has their own rules for this sort of thing, I imagine.

That being said, I made a FAQ thread about this a while back, and it hasn't received an answer.

I'll post a link and bump it when I get home from work.

Since Tower Shields can only be made of wood, per their description, you could only use Special Material woods (such as Darkwood and Greenwood) in PFS.

In a homegame you could use whatever your GM allowed, but the GM for PFS uses only items in print. If you want one of the specific Tower Shields you mentioned, you'll have to acquire them as is.
