questions on how to use zadim abilities

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

ok first his ability to discard a weapon that does not have a two handed trait to add stealth skill to anyone at your location combat check. does it only give a plus 2 or does also add the modifier so it can a plus 2 plus the modifier.

this kinda goes with the first question now can i use that ability for my self and can i discard the same weapon i reaveled to attack with or does it have to be differrent weapon.

can i use this powers multiple times on the same attack.

if i use his power to add my int. can i also use my stealth power ability as well. and can i use those powers multiple times in the same attack as long as have the cards to recharge

i know this is alot of questions at once but i wont to use zadim at his fullest because i heard he is kinda broken like sajon the monk

2 people marked this as a favorite.

- it adds your Stealth *SKILL* - so yes, you add d8+2+ any Skill feats you put in Dexterity

- it affects A character (not "another" character) at your location - so yes, it works on you

- no, you can't. You can use powers once per check (unless they trigger passively every time something happens)

- yes, you can use both (there's no rule to prevent you from doing so), but, as said above, you can only use each one ONCE

I find claims of Sajan's broken-ness to be overstated (as opposed to RotR Lini, for example), but Zadim is even less broken. Yes, he can dump a huge static bonus on a particular combat check, but this carries a steep price in cards from your hand - so it slows down your exploration rate/support abilities.

thank you very much , yeah when i first started playing him i noticed that but i have 2 allies that allows me to heal and fetch armor , an armor that allows me to recharge a card from my discard to deck , and everything is now recharge for my dex and int. which helps

no on more question because the wife and i got bored and grinded the last 4 sceneros in avdenture 6. and i have a friday game group that we also play pathfinder tcg and we are about to finish up with ruinlords and we might roll into mummy's mask with the group. my question is since the wife and myself fisnish and we are planning on using same people. as we play through again are we able to earn more skill feats and cards feats or are we caped out from the first run through.

and my wife was asking if he can change roles withc her character if so when and how can she do that and are we stuck to playing one role like with zadim can i use both his outrunner and exacutioner roles

Not only are you not 'capped', you are in fact *required* to start a "clean" character - no feats, 15 Basic cards, etc..

Basically, for all intents and purposes, even if you play Zadim again - it's a NEW Zadim, starting from scratch. Which is only fair, because otherwise your and your wife's upgraded characters will make the game trivial not only for yourselves, but for the rest of the party as well. (and of course, with a new character, you're allowed to pick a new role when you finish AD3).

That being said, the MM box is full of excellent characters, so -while there's no accounting for taste- you and the wife would probably be short-changing yourself from some great new experiences, if you decide to stick with the old and tried Zadim & Co. (rest assured, no Role-divergence within one character can provide the degree of novelty that an entirely different character provides; at a glance, it should be obvious that you'll go at least half the game without seeing anything radically new)

ok im confused because the last adventure says if we play said aventure path again we get a bunch of traders, if we start a new character we get a skill feat, card feat , and a power feat right away

This is only if you want to skip playing the "Base" adventure (AD#0). In essence, they allow you to skip the first 5 scenarios and to automatically gain their reward. Though, why you would be willing to do this is beyond me (especially since you'll be entering AD1 without all the upgrades to your deck cards that you would've found otherwise). Yes, your reward for completing MM is in fact "next time, you can play LESS!"

EDIT: In case I wasn't clear: you start a NEW campaign, with NEW characters - but if you have completed MM previously, you are allowed to fast-forward a bit, presumably so you can get more quickly into the 'action', with a few feats under your belt; you do NOT start NEW campaign with your OLD characters, let alone giving them extra feats (and in any case, these feats are rewards for scenarios your old characters have already completed - and you're not allowed to gain a Scenario's reward more than once).
