Ok so a little info on my current character. He started the campaign a 15 year old whose parents died when he was 7-8 and he spent the rest of his life as an urchant pick pocketing and stealing from food stalls ((level 1 rouge)) but this time they decided to finally start treating him as they would an adult and threw him in jail. This is how our group met, as we all got locked up in this town for varying reasons. So throughout the campaign Marcus ran head long into many dangerous situations with kind of a child-like angst for instance his first time on the road out of the city the group spotted dragon kings playing in the edge of a forest, Marcus found this SO awesome he sprinted across the small field to go pet a few the group managed to make it back to the cart and get away safely. Our other player decided to look around after the fact and found out there where at least 5 adult and 1 elder dragon flying over head that we narrowly managed to slip past. So fast forward to tonight we are level seven on the verge of level eight Marcus has been crushing on this girl for about 5 sessions now spanning over about a year, this character was supposed to be the rock that grounded Marcus and made him mature and have something to live for and stop being so risky ((also the level he stops taking rouge levels and starts working on master spy, his end goal)) well last session he was about to "get laid" but instead got stabbed in the chest while he was vulnerable he died but managed to be rescued by an npc we helped earlier in the campaign with the help of a paladin and he was resurrected. He split the group to go searching for the girl which he found out was in the keep of the lord Marcus and the group are knighted to who we where due to assassinate as he's actually a bad guy and has shown himself to be so in this session. Marcus delved into the keep with a group of heroic npc's he has made friends with through the campaign and went through this magical fun house-esk horror keep fighting his way to find the girl and once he finds her he has a scuffle with her but manages to subdue her, only to have her leap from the floating room they where on into basically lava dying instantly. Which is how the session ended, I'm just curious as to where Marcus should go from here? I told my best friend who's the DM she was supposed to be his rock that made him less reckless and mature as a character ((he also already knew this from at least 3-4 sessions prior)) so what should I do with him now? I already plan on him going on a rage fueled rampage to hunt and kill the two main bad guys of this story arch by himself as the rest of the group is on another continent but if he lives I don't know what to do with the character? Should I make him a hateful lawful evil character that basically cuts all ties with the group and all his friends he has made and become a spy master that doesn't open up to anyone anymore? Or should I make him just continue on and try to forget his first love? Like I'm so conflicted on what to do with him from this point forward, the girl was the key factor in finally giving him something to live for and start calculating every action which tied in to him becoming a master spy.....I don't know what to do character wise! Please does anyone have any ideas? Lol

Honestly, you should find a way to re-connect with the group. Choose a PC or NPC that is connected to the group and make them your rock. You can still be a tragic hero. Lots of D&D and PF characters have tragic origins and lose loved ones. Maybe work with the GM. Maybe the 2 big bads you need to kill are part of a bigger organization you and your allies can use your master spy skills to infiltrate and destroy from within. Maybe that infiltration will challenge the morals of your rogue. Maybe the pain of losing the girl will hone the rogue into a ruthless and implacable spy. James Bond has had a bunch of love interests die, and he's used that rage to help his crown and country. He now focuses on M. In PF terms, this means using your rage to help your group--and get your group to help you.
Splitting the party is hard to run for the GM.
If you insist on cutting ties with the group, roll up a new character to play with the group. Maybe your bitter rogue can be an occasional NPC or you can play him intermittently.

Thanks for the reply, just a few things to add 1. He is connected with a group member just he was so adiment on finding and helping the girl for fear she was bewitched is when he split from the group because they wanted to go on a side mission and revive the DM's character ((basically a dumb barbarian he's just there for combat so our squishy party doesn't TPK every combat))
2. The two big bads are like in separate rooms currently like they are in the keep he just has to find them next session and they ARE exactly what you said just one branch of something bigger that Marcus has already vowed to destroy ((this is his stepping stone))I just don't know how to play him from this point forward is my conundrum?
P.S how do I edit? lol I I don't see an option and I literally made this account an hour ago just trying to reach out.

Oh, well.
It sounds like the big bad corrupted your girl; maybe the GM wanted you REALLY motivated to take out the evil guys. Maybe she'll come back as a ghost or spiritual guide. Maybe she'll come back as an evil zombie or some other kind of revenant. Maybe an evil clone died, and the real girl needs to be rescued.

Thanks! I will probably only come here for situations like this lol but,
Yeah my friend basically said after everyone left that she's 100% dead but she will show herself at the end of the next session to the other player Marcus is connected with because he's done some stuff in hell and made some deals with demons before and he's going to see her because it's actually his daughter that was raised by his brother that was corrupted by the big bad when he was young, raised himself then the now evil brother raised his daughter to also be evil......it's complicated lmao.
I just know Marcus is gonna go on a rampage through the rest of the keep and at least kill the evil brother I don't know if I'll kill the big bad because that's my friends end goal, but sticking to what's true to the character I dunno if I'll face the big bad alone, he's basically 90% chance dead lol but if that 10% happens I just don't know if I want to make him a malicious character and lay in to my buddy or just suck it up and move on. All I know is right now it's been 5 hours and I'm still hurt as a player lol it didn't throw a wrench in my plans it drove a car into it
