Stellar mode says "when you enter combat" so technically it would activate when starship combat begins. Your turn is the phase in which your character is acting (captain, pilot, gunnery, engineering, etc). Consequentially, sidereal influence would deactivate. Sidereal influence even states you need to spend 1 minute in meditation to use it.
I believe this is not the intent but as written is how it would function in say, a Society game.

Right, it's hard to determine what happens.
1) I would think that it does not, because Starship combat doesn't present an immediate threat to the characters themselves. Does Stellar Mode activate if the building you're in is getting shelled, but you don't have any control over it?
2) Technically, Starship Combat is a form of combat, so Stellar Mode should activate.
3) Also technically, "Combat" as described on p. 238 is different from "Starship Combat" on p. 317. Starship Combat rounds don't represent 6 seconds as a Combat round does.
That's the 1-2-3 of my thoughts on the matter. 3 sounds like rules lawyering, but it also lines up with your expectations of intent (also my expectations of intent).

Class features and items affect crew actions only if specifically noted in the class feature or item.
It's been mentioned that always-on bonuses still apply, but for anything else default to this statement. As Solarion's class features don't specifically note starship combat, you can probably assume they don't interact.
