Perception penalty for sleeping characters?

Rules Questions

What is the penalty to Perception rolls when the character is asleep.

Say, for example, a party attempts to sneak up (using Stealth) on a sleeping guard.

And, while on the topic, what's the DC to hear the snoring of a character that is otherwise hidden from view. For example, if the guard is sleeping behind a crate or barrel or something.

Distance to the source, object, or creature

+1/10 feet

In Beta, there were different rolls for each of the 5 senses, but in the final Pathfinder rules, it doesn't matter which sense(s) you're using to find the target. A snoring guard in the open is as easy to hear as a snoring guard behind a crate, though the GM is free to declare Unfavorable Conditions and give the DC a +2.

Also worth noting that technically conditions modify the DC rather than the Perception skill, despite wording in other places implying that the skill roll itself is modified.

So if the guard was 20 feet away, the DC would be 2?

If the guard is asleep 20 feet away and has a chance to hear a PC approaching, that would be the PC's Stealth roll, +2 for distance, +10 for being asleep. So, the DC would be Stealth roll plus 12.

If the PCs are 20 feet away, the DC for them to hear him snore depends on how loud he's snoring. As loud as a pitched battle? -10 +2 for distance = -8. As loud as a spoken conversation? 0 +2 for distance = 2. As loud as a whispered conversation? 15 +2 for distance = 17. Perhaps +/- 2 for favorable or unfavorable conditions (i.e., the sound of a nearby stream covers the sound of his quiet breathing, or the building is otherwise completely silent making the snores more noticeable) or +5 if the party is arguing among themselves as they approach and are distracted.
