I want to use "Azlanti Fanatic".
There seem to be two opinions in the playgroup: one is that I can't use it because Human Azulanti = Pureblood Azulanti and the premise is illegal, and the other is that Modern Azulanti is not explicitly stated to be illegal, so I can use it.
I would like to know the answer to this question.
I am not convinced that the premise is to position and present data that is illegal as legal.

Unfortunately, it's not obtainable:
All human ethnicities are legal except Azlanti. Humans begin play knowing all listed languages for their chosen ethnicity as racial languages
Technically speaking, Azlanti Fanatic is legal, it's just that you can't select it because selecting Azlanti as your ethnicity isn't allowed.

Thanks for the answer. Unfortunately, I'm giving up on this idea.
I agree with you that it wasn't the intent, just the current legality (not finding any posts about it from way back).
However you can access it with the Adopted trait, since it's in the "Race Trait" category, assuming you're not using your Social trait for anything else.

Nope, because you're trying to select a race (Human - Azlanti ethnicity) that isn't a legal choice for you.
Per the FAQ, you can only use options that allow you to select stuff from other races if the target race is either always available, or you spend a boon as if you were playing that race. Since [Human - Azlanti] isn't always available, you can't be adopted by them either - just like you can't be adopted by androids or drow.
