Rhino Hide interaction with Combat Maneuvers

Rules Questions

Can anyone clear up how Rhino hide interacts with an Overrun or Trample? Specifically how it would work with a Powerful Charge?

Context for better clarification: I'm stuck between taking a Rhino or an elephant animal companion, and I already have the Rhino Hide armor. The Elephants trample is great, but would it make my Rhino Hide's extra damage useless?

Sovereign Court

Yes, because trample isn't charging.

Basically, Rhino Hide interacts with neither of them.

Trample, as stated by Ascalaphus, doesn't involve a charge, so Rhino Hide does not apply.

Overrun, on the other side can be used as part of a charge, but, while not stating it directly, overrun replaces the attack you'd get with the charge with the combat Maneuver roll you make instead (there's a specific feat - Charge Through - that allows you to complete both actions, the charge attack AND the overun). Since Rhino Hide adds the extra damage to an attack you're not making, then it doesn't interact.

You can always get Rhino hide as barding for your mount too. Great for those natural chargers like rhinos.
