I'm building a melee focused Vesk. Starting stats are 18 str and 14 dex.
My general goal is to be tanky and keep enemies focused on me while my allies shoot them. I will need at least one ranged option if for no other reason then to not waste my gear boost.
Feats of note: Cleave, Weapon Focus (Advanced Melee), Versatile Weapon Focus, Spellbane, Enhanced Resistance (Kinetic)
Paths I'm considering.
Arcane Assailant - Mostly just for the level 9 ability to shrug off conditions. I don't expect to see many mystics willing and able to remove them for me in combat.
Blitz - The level 1 ability is fantastic. As is the level 13. But 5 and 9 don't look great to me. A great choice for the level 9 style.
Bombard - Entangle grenade will help pin down enemies. Or at level 9 apply debuffs along with some damage.
I'm not really interested in power armor which is why I'm not taking Armor Storm

Blitz is designed explicitly with the melee soldier in mind.
If you want to do a silly build, you can alternatively take Armor Storm and just punch people to start getting strength-and-a-half damage from level one, with it being damage that will always scale with your character level. This also allows you to deal damage with bull rush at later levels, and gives you better armor, including power armor training for free.

Blitz I think is the best style for melee. The 5th level ability for a standard action charge is really good for engaging enemies, it's a lot easier to set up charge lanes if you can move beforehand, it also works well with the initiative and movement speed boost to start threatening enemies as fast as possible.
Bombard is nice, but doesn't help melee. Arcane assailant just doesn't seem nearly as good too me.
