Help with my Next Character: Underused Concepts

Advice

Hey all,

My favorite character, a whip-based War Priest of Calistria, is nearing his retirement in PFS, so I am trying to figure out his successor. I have several other characters for PFS, but all of which use themes/builds/mechanics commonly seen, and as such they've gotten fairly boring.

I'm hoping to get some ideas from the community on other interesting/underused mechanics (much like a whip) around which I can build a new character. The only stipulation is that it be at least moderately combat effective.

The Exchange

I just posted this.

There was a concept I saw a couple months ago to combine urban barbarian and kinetic knight to make darth vader that Ive been wanting to try

Some archetypes have almost their own gameplay all by themselves, like Holy Tactician paladin, Sandman bard, Maneuver Master monk...

If you might be interested in a slightly less typical support build, maybe something like a Benefactor + Witch Doctor Shaman with Life spirit (likely with the Restoration variant), and grab the Bless Equipment feats?

I'd imagine that would be a character most would appreciate having at the table.

Grand Lodge

What about a half orc Holy Tactician Paladin 3/Skald X, using amplified rage teamwork feat to grant +6 str. and con to the group from level 4.
Could be a paladin of Halcamora, which have the coolest Obedience:
"Pour half of a bottle of wine onto fertile earth. Drink the rest of the wine yourself while praying to Halcamora. Gain a +4 sacred bonus on saves against bleed and disease effects."
A drinking paladin skald sounds fun...!!

Scarab Sages

If you want seldom seen, which also happens to have some simlarities to a whip build, I've got a Kapenia Dancer Magus in PFS that's currently 8th level. I've only heard of a couple of other Kapenia Dancers even existing in PFS. I ended up dipping a level of Occultist to add some combat effectiveness (using Legacy Weapon to put Bane on her bladed scarf), and after the discussion in the thread, I decided to pick up a familiar, and ultimately one of the boon only familiars who can make excellent use of all of her wands. Having a chance to do the build over, I would probably dip Occultist much earlier.

As an added plus, PFS issued a campaign clarification around the biggest confusing me art of the archetype. Namely what happens with Medium and Heavy armor proficiency at 7th and 13th levels. You don't get proficiency, but if you pick it up somewhere else (occultist) then you can cast spells without arcane failure. Which means at 8th level, i was able to pick up Mithral Kikko armor and get a nice boost to AC (Mage armor until then) while keeping the AC from Canny Defense. All in all, it's turned into an effective character, after some growing pains figuring out the build as I went. Most importantly, she's super fun to play.
